Cut Edge Corrosion

As every job is different, it is vital to choose an anti-corrosion specialist with the experience to handle every eventuality. With over 40 years in the trade and stringent certifications, such as Abrasive Wheel testing, you can rely on D Evans Ltd to offer a risk-free solution.

What happens when Cut Edge corrosion occurs?

Cut Edge Damage

The quality of metal coatings has improved significantly in recent years. Nevertheless, cut edge corrosion of steel roof cladding could occur in any situation where exposed metal is subjected to aggressive moisture conditions. Cut edges and overlapped joints are especially vulnerable due to the effects of capillary action drawing sulphur contaminated rainwater into the joint.

What is the solution?

After a full and comprehensive site survey has been carried out, D Evans Ltd proposes a schedule of remedial action and upon acceptance, the affected roof area is thoroughly cleansed.

A four stage repair and maintenance system is then implemented:

  1. The area is rendered clean and dry
  2. A Sealant is gun-applied into the gap
  3. A Basecoat is brush-applied to all exposed steelwork
  4. A brushable Topcoat is applied

Continual Assessment

Ongoing Technical Assessments are carried out by the manufacturer to ensure all remedial work has complied with the specification. Every aspect of the project will be checked and the frequency of visits will depend upon the size and duration of the project.

Stage 1: preparation
Stage 2: sealing the gap
Stage 3: basecoat
Stage 4: topcoat
All done
